Buckingham Palace makes poignant omission in statement on King Charles Canada visit

Ahead of their arrival in Canada, the Buckingham Palace on Monday shared multiple pictures and brief details of King Charles and Queen Camilla's previous visits to the country.

Interestingly,  King Charles was accompanied by his former wife Princess Diana during at least one of the visit  mentioned in the social media post of the royal family but it did not mention the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry.

"Their Majesties will arrive in Ottawa, Canada. Take a look back at some of their previous visits to the country," said a social media statement.

"The then Prince of Wales gives a speech at the opening of the World University Games in Edmonton, 1983," said the caption describing a picture where a young Charles is seen addressing the crowd.

It was the visit during which he was accompanied by Lady Dina, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

Notably, the social media team of the royal family chose a solo picture of the monarch and chose not to mention that Diana was also with  him during the visit.

According to details, their first trip to Canada was an 18-day tour of the Maritime provinces, where they received an enthusiastic welcome. The the Prince and Princess of Wales  also opened the World University Games in Edmonton.

In their 1991 visit to Canada, Charles and Diana spent five days in Ontario, where they were joined by their sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, aboard HMY Britannia .
