Sam Asghari on pros and cons of marrying Britney Spears

Sam Asghari opened up about marrying popstar Britney Spears and how it impacted his career.

In a candid chat with Page Six Radio, the aspiring actor made honest admissions about his life with the singer, with whom he was married for 14 months, from June 2022 to May 2024, when their divorce was finalized.

“I can’t sit here and lie and say, ‘It wasn’t good for me,'” Asghari said, weighing the pros and cons of being with a popstar.

"When you’re in such a public relationship ... it sort of gave me that platform for who I am,” he added.

“I mean, we met on the acting set. We met as co-workers,” he said, referring to Spears’ 2016 music video for Slumber Party.

“I just started acting at that moment, so I was already doing stuff anyway,” Asghari said, adding that he “absolutely” had “to work harder to prove myself.”

Asghari revealed that he earned a living as a waiter and running his fitness business aside from being an actor.

However, his public romance with Spears sometimes backfired, with casting agents dismissing him as a “cheesy trainer” due to his fitness background.

“‘Oh, and he’s associated with a pop star, which is also cheesy as well.' Or 'can we see him as a character?’ There was that line as well,” he added.

Following the announcement of his divorce from Spears, Asghari took to social media to pen, "After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and i have decided to end our journey together."

“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and i wish her the best always,” he added.

"S--- happens. Asking for privacy seems [ridiculous] so i will just ask for everyone ... To be kind and thoughtful."
