TV chef Christopher Wheeler has been found dead in a London cemetery after he went missing earlier this year.

Wheeler was known for appearing on shows including Great British Menu and Saturday Morning Kitchen.

His partner reported him missing in February. Two days later, workers at Brompton Cemetery found his body in an overgrown area.

An inquest has now heard more about what happened to the 52 year old chef.

Tests found methamphetamine, amphetamine and ketamine in his body. A doctor told court that the drugs were not deadly at levels but they maybe played a major in his death.

Wheeler died from asphyxiation.

Police also looked into whether another person could have been involved. CCTV showed Wheeler entering the cemetery alone.

A forensic check later found no sign that another person was involved. A doctor also found no injuries that suggested a fight or attack.

The court heard that Wheeler had faced mental health problems. However, there was no record showing that he had used drugs before.

Suicide was also ruled out because there was no note or clear sign that Wheeler planned to end his life.

The court recorded an open verdict.

His daughters and family remembered him as a “gentle and kind” person and a “truly sunny soul” who loved his work and his family.
