Sydney Sweeney has revealed that her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell connected her with pop star Tate McRae for her recent appearance on the track Miss Possessive.
While appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Sweeney shared that Powell initiated the collaboration.
Moreover, she said, “Glen actually connected me with her. He was like, ‘Hey, Tate wants me to connect you two. Can I give her your number?’ I said, ‘Yeah, sure.’”
As per Daily Mail, the revelation came days after Paris, who dated Powell for over three years, spoke publicly on the Too Much podcast, describing how she felt “blindsided” and “shattered” when speculation of an affair between Powell and Sweeney emerged during the film’s press tour.
Paris said Powell dismissed her concerns at the time, claiming it was “just for the job.”
While the affair rumors were later dismissed as a PR strategy to promote the film, which went on to become a box office success, Paris criticized the handling of the situation, saying she was left to “handle it alone” and was ultimately forced to walk away from the relationship.
Meanwhile, Sweeney, who also served as an executive producer on Anyone But You, said she was deeply involved in the film’s marketing and “was on every call.”
At the time, she was engaged to Jonathan Davino, from whom she confirmed her split in May.
Powell later acknowledged that the publicity stunt “worked wonderfully,” giving Sweeney credit for the idea, and admitted the timing was difficult due to his breakup with Paris.
Despite the past drama, Sweeney is moving forward with new ventures and Powell’s industry connection appeared to have played a part in her latest one.
