Paul McCartney is paying tribute to Brian Wilson, the legendary Beach Boys co-founder.

The 82-year-old Beatles member took to his Instagram account and shared old and recent photos of Wilson, along with a touching message to honor his musical legacy.

"Brian had that mysterious sense of musical genius that made his songs so achingly special," McCartney praised. "The notes he heard in his head and passed to us were simple and brilliant at the same time."

Reflecting on their bond McCartney said, " I loved him, and was privileged to be around his bright shining light for a little while.”

McCartney ended his tribute with a nod to the Beach Boys' famous song, writing, "How we will continue without Brian Wilson, 'God Only Knows.'" He closed with, “Thank you, Brian. Paul.”

It is pertinent to mention that Wilson passed away on June 11 at the age of 82.
