Tom Brady is realising his 2024 roast went a little too far with his jokes about ex-wife Gisele Bündchen and her boyfriend Joaquim Valente.
The retired NFL star, 47, made the admission at Fanatics Fest in New York City with Kevin Hart as he reflected on his performance in Netflix's The Greatest Roast of All Time.
“When people make fun of me, I actually love it because it makes me feel like they're comfortable enough with me to make fun of myself, and they make fun of me, which gives me permission to make fun of them,” he began. “So the answer is: I had a great time.”
Brady then admitted how it impacted his kids, expressing his regret over the move.
“The only thing that was hard for me was I have kids that, you know, it hurts their feelings. And I think when you're a parent and — I didn't think about those things, and I learned a lesson,” he added.
Brady shares two children—Benjamin Rein, 15, and Vivian Lake, 12—with Bündchen, who he divorced in 2022. He also co-parents 17-year-old son John “Jack” Edward Thomas with actress Bridget Moynahan.
Shortly after the special, the Fox Sports announcer said he regretted taking part in it, telling The Pivot podcast, “I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way that it affected my kids.”
“I wouldn’t do that again because of the way it affected actually the people I care about the most in the world,” he added.
Brady is currently keeping his renewed romance with supermodel Irina Shayk, 39, low-key and private" after “quietly gave love another shot,” following the birth of his ex-wife Bundchen's first child with Valente.
The pair first began seeing each other in mid-2023, meeting at a summer wedding but split in October.
