King Charles is said to be willing to rebuild a relationship with his estranged son, Prince Harry, amid reports he is set to extend an olive branch.
Reports suggest the Duke of Sussex may invite Charles, Prince William and the rest of the royal family to attend the 2027 Invictus Games, set to take place in Birmingham.
Speaking on the possibility of Charles accepting Harry’s olive branch, royal commentator Katie Nicholl said the monarch “absolutely wants a relationship” with his son, per The Mirror.
She added that the monarch has an “incredible capacity for forgiveness,” adding that he “absolutely wants a relationship with his youngest son and with his grandchildren," referring to his and Meghan Markle’s kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
"He has an incredible capacity for forgiveness and he wants to be magnanimous in all of this and therefore there's certainly a possibility that the King might consider attending Invictus,” Nicholl said.
This comes after a source spilt to Mail on Sunday revealed that Harry has “agreed” to invite the royal family to 2027 Invictus Games.
They shared, "Invictus hopes the royal family will come along to support the wounded veterans taking part. Harry is hopeful his father will set aside their differences to attend the Invictus Games and support veterans.”
"The royals have always been hugely supportive of Invictus and proud of what Harry has achieved in that arena. This is one olive branch from him which might be reciprocated," they added.
However, a spokesman for Invictus shared with the publication, "No formal invitations have been issued as preparations are in the early stages."
