Two days after announcing his first visit to Brazil, Prince William hosted "Indigenous People’s and philanthropic institutions ahead of COP30" at St James’s Palace,
The Kensington Palace shared the Prince of Wales photos from gathering with a message from the future king which read, "Delighted to bring together leaders, Indigenous People’s and philanthropic institutions ahead of COP30 in Brazil at St James’s Palace today."
He said, "Indigenous Peoples and local communities lead the way in protecting nature. Their role is vital and must be supported."
William said, "Today’s discussion was all about turning commitment into action, and making sure Indigenous knowledge and experience shape the road to COP30 and beyond."
Taking stage at "Leading with Impact" event on Tuesday, William confirmed that he would be attending Earthshot Prize in Brazil in autumn.
Prince William’s 2025 Earthshot Prize will be held at Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro.
In April, William announced that he would take the annual awards ceremony for his multi-million dollar environmental prize to Brazil.
A nod to former U.S. President John F. Kennedy's "moonshot" project which led to the 1969 lunar landing, its goal is to find innovations to combat climate and other green issues, and awards five winners 1 million pounds ($1.3 million) each to drive their projects.
This year's awards ceremony will be held shortly before the UN climate summit COP30 which also takes place in Brazil in November.
Previous awards ceremonies have been held in London, Boston, Singapore, and Cape Town, backed by global organisations and philanthropists.
Among the famous faces who also featured in the Earthshot video were actress Cate Blanchett, model Heidi Klum, Brazil's most capped soccer player and World Cup winner Cafu, and former England soccer captain David Beckham.
