Palace wishes veteran Geoffrey Roberts on 100th birthday

Palace has extended sweet birthday wishes to veteran Geoffrey Roberts, who turned 100 on Saturday.

The palace shared photos of the veteran with Princess Anne on its official website saying, “Happy Birthday to veteran Geoffrey Roberts, who turned 100 today!”

Earlier this week, Geoff received an MBE from the Princess Royal for his charity work and services to the commemoration of the Battle of Arnhem.

According to the palace, Geoff was part of Operation Market Garden, an Allied military operation carried out during the Second World War. During his time at war, he was sent to a Prisoner of War camp where he was put to work in a coal mine until the war ended.

Last year, to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem, the Princess Royal and Geoff took part in commemorations to remember those who died during the Battle.

Meanwhile, the Princess Royal, on behalf of The King, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this week.

Moreover, King Charles marked Armed Forces Day with a heartfelt message.

The monarch’s message reads, “Thank you for your tireless service, protecting the UK and promoting peace overseas. We are hugely grateful for your efforts, often in the face of danger, and those of your loved ones, providing support at home.”
