King Charles has just found himself in the middle of a crisis, all because of his income.
For those unversed, the Royal Family and its reigning monarch receive an annual income under The Sovereign Grant, it is one funded by taxpayers and offers the Firm over £86 million annually.
The amount is paid out at a certain percentage from the revenue of the Crown’s Estates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland amounting to £15 billion in worth.
While the payout for 2025 is said to remain steady, for 2026-2027, NBC reports the Firm will get a jump in income worth over $170 million total.
According to Express UK this number is over a 53% increase, contributed to be offshore wind farms that the Crown Estate manages.
They raked in a full f £1.15 billion net profit as well, £1.07 billion out of this amount comes from the leasing tender Round 4.
However, that is not the only source of income, because King Charles also received a set sum from the Privy Purse, visa ve the Duchy of Lancaster.
There is also another Duchy in the Firm but that comes under the Prince of Wales, which Prince William is titled as following his father’s ascension to King.
With these income streams though, certain groups within the country wish for total abolishment, namely an anti-monarchy campaign group headed by The CEO, Graham Smith.
In an interview with NBC News he even highlighted how bad poverty is for children in the UK.
In accordance with Gov UK, 4.5 million children are living in less than ideal circumstances and he beleies “half a billion could go a long way to relieving some of that poverty.”
With the current cost of living crisis for many others he also noted that “that money is instead being spent on their personal lifestyles, helicopters and two dozen palatial homes. It's just criminal.”
