Meghan Markle has reached out to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, after he underwent emergency surgery in the Philippines on December 3.

A spokesperson for Meghan confirmed to GB News that the Duchess has made contact, two days after it was reported that Thomas had been admitted to hospital.

The move comes as a surprise to many, given the two have had little communication since before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

Doctors amputated his left leg below the knee after a blood clot cut off circulation, leaving his foot reportedly blackened.

Thomas Markle Jr., has painted a stark picture of his father’s condition following the emergency surgery.

Speaking to MailOnline, he said, “There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed and it was a case of life or death.”

He confirmed that medical staff remain “extremely concerned” for his father’s safety.

“My dad is being very brave,” Thomas added.

However, some reports suggest Meghan may have reached out indirectly, asking aides to check on her father rather than speaking to him personally.

Meanwhile, Markle’s son has publicly urged Meghan and Harry to offer support, emphasizing that their father is now “fighting for his life.”
