Buckingham Palace 'reacts' as King Charles row with Spencer escalates

King Charles appeared to have deployed his secret weapon amid the fresh new battle that the monarch is up against with Princess Diana’s family.

The monarch landed in a fresh battlefield when Charles Spencer’s forthcoming book unveiled some devastating claims about the incidents that took place around the death of the beloved Diana. The King is understood to be furious by everything that has been happening, however the Palace has been making efforts to calm down the situation.

Hence, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, has made an appearance as she gets a special nod from Buckingham Palace. Prince Edward’s wife, who also earned a reputation for being a ‘secret weapon’ for the King, was on a visit to Zambia. 

The Palace is using the opportunity to bring the attention back to much more important work.

“Thank you to everyone who welcomed The Duchess of Edinburgh to Zambia!” the statement read alongside the footage of the highlights.

The Duchess undertook several meaningful engagements, not only to strengthen ties between the two nations but also to promote the charities she supported.

The update also comes at the heels of reports that Charles had to hold himself back in his recent statement about the Diana memoir written by his former brother-in-law.

Sources revealed that aides had to “intervene” and “tone down” his comments before Diana’s brother decided to fight back harder.

A spokesperson last week said that while they do not comment on books, the monarch “is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss”.
