Mia Goth offered an update on Marvel’s repeatedly delayed Blade reboot.
Although she began early prep work after being cast, including flying to Atlanta for a chemistry test with star Mahershala Ali, as well as costume and wig fittings, the movie “unraveled from there.”
“I don’t know what’s going on with that,” the 32-year-old British actress said. “I think that they want to make it, and it’s such an important film for them that they’re taking their time with it.”
During an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, she explained that she has no idea where the project currently stands.
“I really don’t have any information. I don’t know why it’s taken the time that it has, but we will see,” the Frankenstein star continued. “I was very excited in the direction it was going. It was very cool.”
The model joined the project in 2023 and was rumoured to play Lilith, a major supernatural villain in the comics.
Speaking about Ali, 51, she gushed, “Mahershala had such an interesting take on it, and he was great.”
However, “then it just unraveled from there, unfortunately,” Goth lamented.
For the unversed, the film has faced years of turmoil, including multiple director departures, script overhauls, pandemic delays, and strikes.
Most recently Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed Blade is still in development with Ali attached, but now they are focusing on a modern-day setting after exploring several versions, including period pieces.
Notably, the movie was removed from Marvel’s 2025 release slate amid ongoing issues.
