King Charles' team shed light on the real meaning behind one of the comments made during his Christmas Broadcast.
On December 24, the King's pre-recorded keynote address was broadcast, in which he emphasised the value of peace amid war times, urging communities to come together and build sincere relationships.
During his speech, the monarch said that "our world seems to spin even faster," so it's better to slow down and build connections.
Charles said that taking breaks gives us "the still point of the turning world," a phrase from T.S. Eliot.
Now, clarifying the comment, a Buckingham Palace representative told The Daily Mail that the King was hinting at a "digital detox."
The Palace's spokesperson said, "When His Majesty references that lovely phrase about the ‘still point in the turning world’ at a time when, as he puts it, it’s ‘spinning ever faster,’ he has in mind the effect that new technologies can have on society and how they can impact both community cohesion and general well-being, especially for younger people."
Royal family's team member further shared that the King hopes the festive season brings people together, which helps in focusing on "friendships, families and faith, for those who practice."
"In this way, the king hopes our minds may find greater peace, our souls can renew, and our communities grow stronger," the statement reads.
