Catherine O’Hara’s passing has sent the entertainment industry into mourning, as all came together to remember her glorious performances and infectious laughter.
Saturday Night Live, where O’Hara served as the host twice, in 1991 and ’92, also paid tribute to the actress during the first episode that aired after her demise.
The comedy show displayed a poster of her name during the January 31 episode, which was hosted by Alexander Skarsgard and joined by Cardi B as musical guest.
The late-night show aired only a day after the Schitt’s Creek star passed away at her Los Angeles home at the age of 71.
O’Hara’s representatives released an official statement which revealed that the comedy legend had been suffering from a brief illness which led to her demise.
It was later reported that the Bettlejuice actress was taken to a local hospital in emergency after she experienced difficulty in breathing.
The passing of the Second City actress sparked an emotional reaction among fans, friends, and colleagues all of whom sent their tributes.
Her longtime pals Tim Burton, Eugene Levy, as well as Levy’s kids Dan and Sarah, and their Schitt’s Creek co-star Annie Murphy all honoured her legacy in their eulogic notes.
