Coachella gave us many things this year – but nostalgia in full costume? That was not on the bingo card.
Madonna and Geena Davis casually turned the desert into a time machine, reuniting in their A League of Their Own Looks during Coachella – and yes, it was as iconic as it sounds.
Davis, 70, later posted a backstage photo fully in character, writing to Madonna like no time has passed: “Mae - so happy to see you again! Love, Dottie.” Honestly, we needed a sequel yesterday.
The cameo chaos started earlier in Sabrina Carpenter’s set when Davis appeared as “Aunt Sabrina,” delivering a monologue that felt equal parts theater kid dream and internet fever dream.
(She picked up the baton from Susan Sarandon, who did the honours the weekend before – because why not keep raising the bar?)
Then came the real mic drop: Madonna emerged mid-set. Carpenter kicked into Juno and suddenly we were in a full blown pop history lesson – complete with Vogue, Like a Prayer, and a tease of new music tied to her rumoured Confession II era.
Madonna summed it up best afterward: “still flying high since Friday night at Coachella!” She added, “Thank you to Sabrina… A moment in history, I will never forget!. I FEEL SO FREE.”
For fans of the 1992 classic, the reunion hit differently. It’s been 34 years since the film first introduced Mae and Dottie – and somehow, they still stole the show.
Proof that some teams? They never really disband.
