Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s cause of death has finally been revealed seven months after her body was found in the trunk of singer D4vd’s car.
The cause of death was officially determined on December 9, but the findings had previously been sealed as an investigation into her death was ongoing at the time.
Now that D4vd, 21, has been arrested and charged with the 14-year-old's murder, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed her cause of death as homicide due to “multiple penetrating injuries caused by object(s),” according to a press release on April 22.
The newly released autopsy report lays out disturbing details. It found that Hernandez suffered “two penetrating wounds in the torso” along with “bilateral dismemberment of upper and lower extremities and multiple additional skin defects.”
Officials also noted the presence of alcohol in her system and said she tested “presumptive positive” for several substances, however investigators noted that this finding “does not appear to be contributory to the cause of death.”
According to prosecutors, Hernandez’s remains were discovered in bags inside a car in September 2025, months after she was reported missing. Authorities allege that the suspect, born David Anthony Burke, killed her in April 2025 and dismembered her in May before stuffing her remains in two bags, which he left in the car.
He has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including murder, and remains in custody without bail.
