The royal family may not have included Prince Harry for their annual event in UK, but the Duke of Sussex seemed to have a quite busy weekend, too.
On Saturday, Harry was spotted at the NBA finals in San Antonio, and it was later revealed that Harry was already in town for meaningful cause when he received the invite for the match.
Harry, who has been a big supporter for the veterans, came to his source of inspiration: Warrior Games. The adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured US service members and veterans was the reason Invictus Games was founded in 2014.
Following the NBA match from the night before, Harry stepped out for the second day of the Warrior Games Family Program. He helped serve barbecue to competitors, their families and staff. He also handed out medals to the winners and shared an emotional handshake with an Army veteran who has lost his sight.
“We were honoured to have Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex out to support our wounded, ill, and injured service members during Cycling and Wheelchair Basketball,” the Warrior Games released a statement for Harry.
“On Day 2 of the Warrior Games, he brought energy, encouragement, and support to our competitors’ recovery journeys.”
