Gracie Abrams is good friends with Taylor Swift, but is also one of the young female musicians being sorted into the Taylor Swift camp of pop stars because of certain similarities in music or lyrics.
The 26-year-old musician however, takes it as a compliment when she is shelved up there with the Eras Tour performer, 36, as she celebrates the magnitude of Swift’s stardom herself.
The Risk hitmaker appeared for a deep and personal interview on The New York Times podcast, Popcast, ahead of the release of her new album, Daughter From Hell.
Abrams was asked how she feels about being compared to the Love Story hitmaker, to which she said it never “irks” her and is an “honour” to be categorised beside her.
Although, she noted, there are vast differences between her music and other artists’ music from that of Swift, she understands that using the global icon’s music as a subgenre itself is the shorthand internet uses.
The That’s So True songstress has always been vocal about her appreciation for Swift, and in the same interview, spoke about how all of the Grammy winner’s albums have been a soundtrack to her life at different times.
Abrams shared that since Swift is ten years older than her, her music always made her yearn for what future experiences held for her, which the singer wrote about.
