King Charles' secret weapon against Britain's scorching heat has been hiding in plain sight and it once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II.

As soaring temperatures swept across the UK this week, Buckingham Palace made adjustments to help keep staff comfortable, while the King himself appeared to rely on a trusted cooling gadget with a royal history of its own.

Eagle-eyed royal fans may remember that a Dyson fan was spotted inside Buckingham Palace during an official audience in 2024, when King Charles met then-Chancellor Jeremy Hunt ahead of the Government's Budget.

Positioned discreetly in the Private Audience Room, the fan shows how even the monarch keeps cool during the hottest days of the year.

It was first noticed in the background of photographs taken during Queen Elizabeth II's meeting with Boris Johnson in July 2019, when Britain was experiencing another intense heatwave.

The images quickly caught public attention, with reports at the time claiming sales of the Dyson fan surged after people realised the late Queen was using the same device to beat the heat.

Despite continuing cancer treatment, the King has maintained a carefully managed programme of official duties.

In 2024, he welcomed then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and later held an in-person audience with Chancellor Jeremy Hunt ahead of the Budget - one of the constitutional responsibilities carried out by the Sovereign before the Chancellor presents the Government's economic plans to Parliament.
