Princess Kate took a brave step as she quietly took on the National Three Peaks Challenge, which is a gruelling 24-hour expedition to climb the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales.

The Princess of Wales climbed the Ben Nevis in Scotland, which peaks at 1345 m or 4413 ft to not only conquer a personal test but also to support the work that is being done in the country.

After sharing a lengthy personal statement, the Princess took the opportunity to address why she really took on the challenge in a video message.

“Lots of people have asked me why I am doing this challenge and partly, it’s personal, I’m so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills,” she began. “But, more importantly, it’s to give something back. And acknowledge really all the incredible work up and down this country.”

She shared that she met the “most incredible people who are living with and beyond cancer” and noted how she understands the “difficult journey” it is to be on.

“I really wanted to use this opportunity, as my way, to contribute to the wonderful work that is going on. And in particular to support the Royal Marsden Cancer charity – an organisation very dear to me – who do extraordinary work to support people with and beyond the disease.”

Catherine reiterated her message with the caption, “Together, we can stand alongside everyone navigating life with cancer, ensuring no one faces this disease feeling unseen or unsupported,” adding “Please know you are not alone”.
