King Charles and Queen Camilla are preparing for a packed schedule of royal engagements as Royal Week in Scotland gets underway.
The week begins at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, where the King will receive a Royal Salute before inspecting the Guard of Honour formed by Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland.
During the centuries-old tradition, the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Robert Aldridge, will formally present the keys to the city to the monarch, who will return them to the city's care as a mark of trust.
On Tuesday, King Charles will lead an investiture ceremony at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, recognising individuals for their outstanding achievements.
Later, he and Queen Camilla will welcome hundreds of guests to the palace gardens for the annual Royal Week garden party, joined by the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal.
The royal couple's programme continues on Wednesday with a visit to Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders.
The King will watch the colourful Jethart Callant Festival procession before taking part in one of the town's most cherished traditions by officially starting the annual Hand Ba' game that has been played every year since 1704.
