Princess Eugenie rejects Sarah Ferguson plea: 'I'm sorry Mum'

Princess Eugenie set strict boundaries for her newborn daughter's well-being and that of the rest of the family, even if she had to say a clear no to her mother, Fergie.

King Charles' niece opened the doors of her Portuguese home for Sarah Ferguson, but she rejected her mum's plea for an extended stay.

According to royal author Andrew Lownie, Fergie "at one stage was pleading to be given a free run of the secluded Portuguese home."

He wrote in the Daily Mail, "That was a request too far for the Brooksbanks, who have no wish to see their bolthole under siege from paparazzi."

Letting Sarah into the house meant a new series of scandals and controversies following the new mother.

Princess Eugenie stepped back from making any such mistake, which cost her sanity.
