Prince Harry gets emotional after little girl makes heartfelt gesture

Prince Harry was visibly moved during the WellChild Awards on Monday as he presented the awards to the special children.

When Margot Jones Billington was called onto the stage to collect her award in the 2026 Inspirational Child aged 4–6 category, Margot’s little sister accompanied her to the stage and ran straight into Prince Harry’s arms.

She had come onto stage to show her sparkly outfit but ended up giving a very long hug to the Prince, and didn’t seem ready to let go.

The Duke of Sussex may not have anticipated that the sweet moment would leave him and the audience a little teary-eyed after the encounter.

The moment not only captured the hearts of the attendees, but as the video went viral on the internet, viewers reacted to the adorable encounter, giving their two cents on Harry’s personality.

“Kids aren't daft, they know genuine, good souls when they see them, in fact more than that - they feel them. Margot knew the Prince needed that hug,” on user on Instagram said.

Many drew comparisons to Diana and how much the little girl felt comfortable enough to hold the sweet moment.

The same sentiment was widely echoed on X.

“Babies, even when they get a bit older, are so funny when they do this! I also think it speaks volumes. Kids and dogs have good radar and I think they react just as strongly to the good as they do the bad.”

Another opined the difference approach Harry has from other royals.

“No other royal family member would behave so naturally in this situation..only his mother. This is how a modern royal should [behave] if [they] want to keep the monarchy, along with honesty and transparency. Performance related.”
