Carlos Correa out for rest of MLB season with ankle injury: Here's what we know

The Houston Astros will miss out on their star shortstop for the rest of the MLB season after the franchise coach shared an update on Carlos Correa's injury.

The Astros manager, Jeo Espada, confirmed on Tuesday, September 15, that Correa will not return this season.

The 31-year-old Correa underwent peroneus brevis tendon repair surgery on his left ankle in May this year.

Correa not playing for the Astros is hurting their team performance.

He was simply outperforming as the numbers speak for themselves.

He batted .279/.369/.418 in 32 games before a serious left knee injury in May put a full stop on his season.

After he was operated on his left ankle in May, Correa was set to make a return within eight months.

Initially he was set to miss the remainder of the season, but recently there were speculations that he would make a comeback before the postseason.

Chandler Rome, the Astros beat reporter for The Athletic, reported on Tuesday, September 15, that Correa planned to return to the team’s spring training facility in Florida this week to consult with doctors and get clearance for a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land.

But after coach Espada dashed hopes of getting the three-time All-Star on the field, the Astros have no choice but to continue their playoff run without him.
