Matty Healy drops new bombshell about The 1975 album after fan theories

Matty Healy finally confirmed the status of the new The 1975 album after teasing fans on social media, and shared the exciting update during a video featuring his dad.

The 37-year-old indie rockstar shared a video during a tribute show, which he was unable to attend.

Addressing the fans, Healy said, "Hello everybody, thank you for coming. Tonight we have lots of friends from Sunday for Sammy. We have grantees, we have people who have chipped in. We obviously have the 1975 album. I can't finish this album, which I don't know if I'm ever going to do it. But I've nearly finished it."

The About You hitmaker reiterated, "Yeah, it's pretty much finished. And then, I'd just like to send my love and I hope you have a good night. My dad's here as well, he wants to send his love. Come and say hello to my dad. I'll have to bend down a little bit." 

The camera then showed Tim Healy, who greeted fans and said, "Hiya guests, thanks for coming tonight. And remember to buy one of the merchandise. Because if you do that, that's where we'll get the money. We're giving back to the young, talented people of the North East. That's what we're here for. My boy here, Matt is a patron. So that's fantastic."

The singer's dad also hyped the album, noting, "And the 1975 album. Fantastic...Anyway, lots of love. Have a great one."

Fans were extremely excited to hear the update as The 1975 frontman has been cryptically teasing the record for a while now, while avoiding any confirmations.
