Eid-ul-Fitr likely on August 20: Met
ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on August 20 in Pakistan, Geo News reported.

According to Meteorology Department, the first moon of Shawwal is expected to be visible on August 19 instead of 18, thus Pakistani Muslims are likely to have a 30-day Ramazan.

“Weather conditions are going to be partially cloudy in the upper areas making moonsighting highly unlikely”, the Met officials said.

The position and angles of the new moon at the time of sunset are also favourable for moon-sighting on that day, the they added.

The first moon of Shawwal is likely to dot the horizon first in Balochistan and Sindh areas as the skies are predicted to be clear there on August 19.
