Sindh LG Ordinance 2012 expected shortly
KARACHI: Sindh Government is all set to issue Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2012 shortly in the wake of an understanding reached between Pakistan People's Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement during their marathon meetings that continued till late night yesterday.

Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that the Local Government polls will be held ahead of the general elections and added that the new local government system will be enforceable uniformly across the province of Sindh.

Meanwhile, Awami National Party (ANP) reacting to the quickly changing political scenario in Sindh said that it would oppose the proposed local government system in Sindh.

Punjab Governor Latif Khosa has also urged the Punjab government to hold Local Government elections, in line with Sindh government's intention to go for LG polls.

Khosa said the Punjab government should fulfill its Constitutional obligation by holding the LG elections in the province.

The provincial government, earlier today, also issued the amended Civil Servants Ordinance 2012.

Under the Ordinance, the Chief Minister Sindh will have the authority to deploy Sindh government employees on deputation for a term of up to 5 years. The federal government employees will also be eligible to merge in Sindh government.
