PESHAWAR: The toll is Jamrud blast has risen to twenty-one Tuesday morning while security has been beefed up in the entire area, Geo News reported.
According to sources, security around Jamrud market has been tightened and the shops have reopened today following Monday blast. Sadness has gripped the residents in the area after 21 persons died in the blast.
At least twenty people were killed and 69 others injured in the blast in Khyber Agency on Monday. The blast took place in the Jamrud Bazaar next to the soldier market where the explosives were planted in a vehicle parked next to the market area.
10-12 vehicles parked near the market along with nearby shops and offices were also destroyed as a result of the blast.
The top administrator of Khyber Agency political agent Motahir Zeb and his subordinates visited the site of the blast and reviewed the situation. “The terrorists cannot demoralize the people, government and security forces through carrying out such deadliest actions”, PA Khyber said adding that the military operations would be continued.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party Chief Asfandyar Wali and party’s provincial president Afrasiab Khattak, MQM chief Altaf Hussain and many leaders condemned the blast.
