Altaf’s ID card issue to be resolved soon: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that the matter pertaining to non-issuance of national identity card to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain would be resolved soon.

Addressing a press conference here Friday, Chaudhry Nisar said deviating from the normal procedure, NADRA officials were summoned to the residence of Altaf Hussain in London but the registration form has not so far been submitted with NADRA.

The interior minister said that Ambassador to UK Wajid Shamsul Hassan was invited on luncheon where the latter called NADRA staffers and asked them to come with camera and laptop. The staffers when reached the area got to know that it was Altaf Hussain’s residence, he added.

How identity card can be issued without uploading of the data on NADRA system, he questioned.

The minister said the government has no objection to issuance of identity card to Altaf Hussain, rather it wants to facilitate the process.

Over talks with the Taliban, Chaudhry Nisar said the government wants to make the next round of talks meaningful and result-oriented. A progress towards next round of direct talks is likely to be made in a few days, he added.

The interior minister further said the government cannot be blamed for the delay, as it was decided during the last two rounds that Taliban would convey date and venue of the next round but they could not.

About targeted operation in Karachi, he said the action would enter into a meaningful and effective phase.
