Pakistani cricketers to don Edhi Foundation logo on jerseys

LAHORE: In order to pay tribute to philanthropist Edhi’s services for humanity, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided that its cricketers would don the logo of the Edhi Foundation on their jerseys during the upcoming tour of England and Ireland.

According to a PCB official, the team would be seen sporting the Edhi logo on their jerseys during the ODI and T20 leg of the tour. 

“This partnership honours the services of the great humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi, inarguably one of the world's most selfless philanthropists,” said a PCB spokesman.

PCB officially announced the partnership with Edhi Foundation today ahead of the team’s departure to England. Chairman PCB Shahryar Khan said that having Edhi Foundation as partners is a matter of pride for the board.

“We feel honoured to associate ourselves with the work of such a great human being. PCB is cognizant of its responsibility to give back to the society and this is a continuation of our policy to support and promote such initiatives,” said Shahryar Khan.

A donation of rupees one million was also presented to Edhi Foundation on behalf of PCB and PSL (Rs500,000 each), which was received by Saad Edhi, the grandson of philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi.

Captains Misbah ul Haq, Azhar Ali, and Sarfaraz Ahmed presented the official Pakistan ODI and T20 jersey to Saad Edhi on behalf of the team.

The team also donated a signed bat to be given away at an auction for the benefit of the foundation. 

International Cricket Council (ICC) has also permitted PCB to use the Edhi logo on their jersey during the tour.

Pakistan are scheduled to play four test matches, five ODI’s and a T20 match. The first test would begin from July 14.
