Congo treatment requires early diagnosis

KARACHI: Five people have lost the battle to Congo in the provincial capital of Sindh, as fear of the deadly virus continues to grow leading up to Eid-ul-Azha.

Deputy Director Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Complex (JPMC) Dr Javaid urges people experience headaches, vomiting, red eyes, sever body pain and blooding should rush to a nearby hospital as an early diagnosis can save their life.

Dr Jamali cited the example of Ghulam Nabi, the 32-year-old who was admitted at the JPMC one week ago and had now been shifted back home. According to Dr Jamali it was an early diagnosis which allowed Ghullam Nabi to return back home. The patient was treated in the isolation ward and after three days his immune system had recovered.

Congo is spread via a tick found on the skin of animals.  Mostly animals which have thick hair will have more chances of a tick so be aware while purchasing an animal from the cattle market.

Health experts has urge that people should go to the cattle market in the morning and wear light coloured clothing along with covering their face and hands.
