KARACHI: Artist Safdar Ali is exhibiting his new series of sculptures and new media works. Simple and thought provoking, the works are accurate reproductions of the objects which inspire him.

A graduate of the prestigious National College of Arts in Lahore, Safdar originally hails from Tando Jam in Sindh and is known for creating works that imitate reality.

Titled Utopia, his current body of work includes sculptures made out of concrete, metal, wood-shaving, blades, in addition to digital, video, and other new media.

With symbols from our daily lives and a surrealistic approach, his works, he claims, simply question our social structure. While his compositions – some life-sized and others small – contain many identifiable objects and ideas, he prefers that their interpretation is left to the viewer.

The show continues daily until Thursday, September 8th 2016, at Canvas Gallery Karachi.
