RIO DE JANEIRO: Long jumper Haider Ali becomes the first Pakistani to win Bronze this year at Paralympics 2016 held in Rio.
31-year-old Gujranwala born Haider participated in T-37 long jump event, managing a distance of 6.28 meters. He finished third behind Brazil’s Mateus Evangelista Cardoso 6.53 metres and China’s Shang Guangxu 6.77meters.
Haider also won a silver back in 2008 Paralympics held in Beijing, China.
Ali is the only Pakistani to have won medals at the Paralympics Games despite the country making its debut in 1992.
