Pakistan capable of giving befitting response to any aggression: PM

KHAIRPUR TAMIWALI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday addressed those attending military exercise Raad ul Burq.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan was fully capable of giving a befitting response to any aggression, adding that the military exercise showed the preparedness of the country’s armed forces.

“Pakistan’s armed forces are ready to combat any internal and external threats,” Prime Minister Sharif said. He added that the country’s defence was impregnable.

The prime minister praised the role of Pakistan’s armed forces in combating terrorism in the country. “Operation Zarb-e-Azb is the most effective operation against terrorism in the world.”

According to the prime minister it was through the sacrifices of the armed forces that the writ of the state was established. “Sacrifices of military personnel will not go to waste.”

Enemy wants to destabilise Pakistan

Prime Minister Sharif further said that Pakistan did not want to interfere in the matters of any other country and had the same expectations from the global community.

“Pakistan’s enemy does not want to see the country prosper and has made ambitions clear,” the prime minister said.

Speaking on Indian cross border violations, the prime minister said violations at the Line of Control (LoC) were a serious matter.

Kashmir issue

On Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Sharif said this was at the core Pakistan, India relations. He stressed that a resolution which kept in mind of the Kashmiri people and UN resolutions was essential.

“Human rights violations in Kashmir are the source of tension in the region.”

CPEC will benefit all provinces

Prime Minister Sharif said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would benefit all provinces and areas.

He added that all efforts were being made to ensure that CPEC projects would be completed on time.

“CPEC project is the manifestation of cooperation between Pakistan and China.”

Sacrifices of martyrs will not go in vain: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel spoke after the military exercise. The Army chief said sacrifices of soldiers would not go in vain.

He added that preparation of armed forces would not let anyone cast an evil eye on Pakistan.

“We want to provide secure and better future to the next generation,” COAS was quoted as saying.
