ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesman, Nafees Zakaria said on Wednesday that India had deployed one million troops in occupied Kashmir which is the highest concentration of soldiers in the world.

In an interview with Radio Pakistan, Zakaria said presence of Indian troops at such a large scale was a hurdle in implementing the United Nations resolution.

The FO spokesman added that since the last four months, Indian troops were killing innocent Kashmiris and violating basic human rights. He urged India to stop bloodshed in occupied Kashmir, emphasising Pakistan’s desire to resolve outstanding issues with India peacefully.

The spokesman also called on the UN to play its role in resolving the Kashmir issue and implement its resolution.

Nafees Zakarai condemned India’s ill intention to sabotage the Indus Water Treaty.

On Pakistan’s neighbour to the West, Zakaria said peace in Afghanistan was vital for regional stability. He added that Pakistan was attending the Heart of Asia Conference in India because it related to Afghanistan.
