DG ISPR welcomes Ronaldinho and team ahead of their Pakistan visit

RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor has extended a warm welcome to Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho and his team ahead of their Pakistan visit, scheduled for July.

In a Twitter post on Monday, the DG ISPR said, “We welcome @10Ronaldinho and his team to Pakistan 6-8 Jul 17 in coord with @leisureleaguepk. Pakistan is a peace and sports loving country.”

Ronaldinho and seven other top footballers, including Roberto Carlos and John Terry, will be visiting Pakistan for exhibition matches in Karachi and Lahore. They will also meet with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa during their visit.

The footballers have been invited by the organisers of Leisure League.

Ronaldinho is currently the club ambassador for Spanish club FC Barcelona. He won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2004 and 2005. He played 97 matches and scored 33 goals for the Brazil national team. He was an integral part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup-winning team in Korea and Japan and was named in the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team.
