12 dengue patients admitted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital in one day

PESHAWAR: At least 12 dengue patients were brought to Lady Readying Hospital (LRH) on Wednesday, according to the facility’s administration.

The new cases have taken the count of patients to 51 brought to LRH in the past three weeks, the hospital administration said. Out of the count, 20 patients have been discharged, while treatment of 31 others was under way at the hospital.

The 31 patients were being treated in the isolation ward created in the ward for dengue patients. The hospital administration said there are two separate wards for men and women at LRH.

Funds required

In order to fight the dengue virus, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has taken to the finance ministry. The health department has apprised the province’s finance ministry about its needs, demanding funds to contain the virus from spreading in Peshawar.

According to officials concerned, health department demanded funds of Rs11 million, out of which Rs3.7 million have been dispatched.
