LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday that Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer hospital’s operations are transparent, adding that it is better not to malign it for political purposes.

Imran was addressing the social award ceremony in Lahore.

“The government’s ministers time and again criticise the hospital,” said Imran, adding that if there are any concerns they should be investigated.

“Our hospital’s accounts are online,” said the PTI chief. The government didn’t make other institutes for the treatment of cancer.

While referring to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz, the PTI chief wished her a speedy recovery.

Kulsoom Nawaz also went abroad for the treatment, remarked Imran.

On August 23, Maryam Nawaz Sharif had revealed that her mother Kulsoom Nawaz was diagnosed with lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes on the left side of her neck.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz left for London unexpectedly on August 17 for a medical checkup – on the day when her nomination papers for NA-120 were accepted amid political hype.
