LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif left for London on Wednesday morning to meet his ailing wife, Kulsoom Nawaz.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader will be abroad with his wife and sons during Eid.

Kulsoom, the PML-N candidate for the NA-120 by-election — the seat Nawaz lost when the Supreme Court disqualified him in the Panama Papers case — is reportedly under treatment for lymphoma.

Maryam Nawaz disclosed last week that her mother Kulsoom was diagnosed with lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes on the left side of her neck.

Doctors have said that Kulsoom’s ailment is curable and the “treatment shouldn’t be too complicated.”

Maryam Nawaz has taken charge of running election campaign of her mother in the constituency.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was at the Lahore airport to see off the former prime minister on Wednesday.

A party source in London has informed that a public rally will be held in West London where Nawaz will speak to his supporters from across the United Kingdom.
