ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued on Friday the polling schedule for a by-election on Peshawar's NA-4 constituency, which will be held on October 26.

The seat had fell vacant after incumbent lawmaker Gulazar Khan, from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), passed away due to a heart ailment.

As per the ECP's schedule, interested candidates can file their nomination papers from September 18 to 20 while the returning officer (RO) of the constituency will conduct scrutiny of the nomination forms from September 21-23.

The last date for filing of appeals against the RO's decision of rejecting or accepting nomination papers is September 27 while the last date for the appellate tribunal to decide on appeals is October 2.

According to the ECP, the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 3 after which the publication of the revised list of candidates will take place on October 4.

In the 2013 General Elections, Khan had won the constituency on the PTI ticket by garnering around 55,000 votes. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's Nasir Khan Moosazai came in second after getting around 20,000 votes.
