KARACHI: Four policemen, alleged of killing a 14-year-old boy in Karachi, were arrested on Monday and booked on charges of murder.
Rehan, 14, was allegedly killed because of police firing in Karachi's Mominabad area late Sunday.
The law enforcers claimed they raided the vicinity in search of drug peddlers, who opened fire on the police team. They said the boy was killed in firing by the suspects.
But the residents rubbished police claims with eye witnesses saying the duty policemen, whom they said were intoxicated, tortured children in the locality, before firing shots on the orders of the station house officer (SHO).
Superintendent Police (SP) Orangi Abid Baloch took notice of the incident and ordered locking up the four policemen involved in the episode.
A case was also lodged against arrested policemen in Mominabad police station, with father of the deceased child as complainant.
Family of the victim and residents of the locality also protested over the killing outside Mominabad police station.
They, however, dispersed after being assured of fair investigations into the tragic event.
