Chief justice watches Zalmi vs Kings match at Gaddafi stadium

LAHORE: It appears that the chief justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar, is just as much a cricket fan as any other Pakistani.
In photographs tweeted by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday, the country's top judge could be seen enjoying the Karachi Kings vs Peshawar Zalmi match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The pictures showed the chief justice sitting next to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi in the stadium's VIP enclosure.
According to reports, the chief justice came to watch the match on the special invitation of Najam Sethi.
Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings by 13 runs in the second eliminator match at the Gaddafi Stadium. They will now face Islamabad United in the tournament's final at Karachi's National Stadium on Sunday (March 25)—over nine years after the city last hosted international cricketers.
Wednesday's game was the second PSL match to be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore this year. Last year, the tournament's final was held in Lahore while the rest of the matches, like this year, were held in Dubai and Sharjah.
International cricket was suspended in Pakistan after a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in March 2009.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has gradually revived international cricket in the country as improved security made it possible to host the final in Lahore in March last year.
That was followed by a three-match Twenty20 series against a World XI—comprising of players from seven countries—in September plus a single Twenty20 match against Sri Lanka a month later. Pakistan later hosted five limited-over matches against Zimbabwe in Lahore in 2015.
