Qalandars’ Raja, Mirza shine in Australia

KARACHI: Farzan Raja and Ahsan Mirza, two of Lahore Qalandars’ player development program find this season, continue to shine in Australia where they’re playing for Glenorchy Cricket Club.

The duo was signed by Cricket Tasmania after their impressive show with Lahore Qalandars development squad on tour to Australia for Quinn series last November. And, since then they have produced some exciting performances.

On Saturday, Farzan Raja earned his second consecutive man of the match award after an all-round performance against the University of Tasmania in Cricket Tasmania Premier League first grade match.

Raja, after taking two wickets with the ball, scored a match-winning 23 off 19 balls to guide his side to 7 wickets win.

His teammate, Ahsan Raja also got two wickets, including one of Australia’s international James Faulkner.

Raja has so far appeared in 7 first grade games for Glenorchy and has taken 13 wickets at an average of 11.6. He has also scored 118 runs in 7 innings at an average of 19.7

The management of Lahore Qalandars has expressed excitement on impressive run by Qalandars’ duo in Australia.

“To see our players performing everywhere is a great sight for us. We are proud of Farzan Raja and Ahsan Mirza. I am sure these players, if continue to work hard, can go places and make a name in Pakistan Cricket,” said an official of Lahore Qalandars.
