KARACHI: Fast bowler Mohammad Sami has advised Pakistan to play aggressively in much anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup game against India.

Speaking to Geo.tv here, the fast bowler, who last played for Pakistan in 2016, said that his best wishes are with team Pakistan, eyeing glory in cricket’s pinnacle in England.

“The match against India will be the test of nerves, it is a pressure match and best way to release the pressure is to play with aggression,” Sami said.

“It’s a good sign that Pakistan reached England month before the start of World Cup, it will surely help the team. It is also important that roles of individuals are identified and players stick to the roles assigned to them.”

Sami, who represented Pakistan in 36 Tests and 87 ODIs, said that the tournament’s format allows every team to stay in contention to win till the end.

“Each team is scheduled to play against every opponent. It allows you to make a comeback even if you don’t start well. But, at the same time, consistency will be the key for teams,” the fast bowler said.

Replying to a query, he said that it is yet to be known how effective Mohammad Aamir and Wahab Riaz will be for Pakistan during the tournament.

“I can’t say if the decision to include the duo in the team is good or not. Only time will tell if they’re good for Pakistan or not, so wait and see,” he said.

Sami hoped for a better result from the team.

“I surely see them among top four teams of the World Cup; there is no reason not to see them among the bests in the tournament,” he added.
