LPG price increases by Rs 5 per kg
ISLAMABAD: The marketing companies on Tuesday increased the price of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs 5 per kg with immediate effect.

Chairman LPG Distributors Association Muhammad Irfan Khokhar said the price of a domestic cylinder was raised by Rs 59 and commercial cylinder by Rs 227.

He said the prices had been raised arbitrarily as the Ministry of Petroleum, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) or producers had not issued any notification in this regard.

As a result of the increase the price of domestic cylinder has been increased by Rs 100 from Rs 95 per kg in Lahore, Sialkot and Gujranwala, thus raising per cylinder price to Rs 1150 from Rs 1090.

While in Dera Ghazi Khan, Jhang, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Dera Ismail Khan and Sargodha price has been raised to Rs 110 from Rs 105 per kg and domestic cylinder to Rs 1270 from Rs 1210.

Similarly the per kg price has been raised to Rs 120 from Rs 115 and domestic cylinder to Rs 1390 from Rs 1360 in Murree, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

In Bagh, Muzaffarabad, FATA, Azad Kashmir the per kg price has been raised to Rs 130 from Rs 125 and domestic cylinder to Rs 1510 from Rs 1450.

While in Karachi the price of LPG has been raised to Rs 90 from Rs 85 per kg and domestic cylinder to Rs 1030 from Rs 970 and in Peshawar per kg price per kg was increased to Rs 105 from Rs 100 and domestic cylinder to Rs 1210 from Rs 1150.

He said the gas mafia was trying hard to undermine the welfare measures of the government through these unethical practices.

He demanded of the government to take action against these anti-market forces that had forced the poor segment of the society to purchase the commodity at exorbitant rates.

He said there was a needed to review the pricing mechanism of the LPG in order to provide maximum relief to the poor masses.
