LAHORE: As the mercury level rises throughout the country, so do the hours of loadshedding. According to PEPCO officials, the energy shortfall in the country is currently 5,975 MW. At present electricity generation is 12,934 MW while demand is 18,909 MW.
Loadshedding has become a norm in most cities of the country which is a great cause of concern for businesses.
In Sindh the cities of Nawabshah, Larkana, Jacobabad, Badin and other areas are experiencing loadshedding of 12-14 hours while in Sukkur and Hyderabad 8-10 hours of loadshedding is taking place.
In Karachi, residents are frustrated over unannounced loadshedding. Residents said that the government should take concrete measures to deal with the electricity shortfall in the country. Technical faults are not being fixed for several days which are adding to the misery of residents and in some areas power outages take place every hour.
According to KESC spokesperson, the situation will improve if adequate gas is supplied.
In Punjab the situation is worse as Multan, Khaniwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Sargodah are experiencing 16 hours of loadshedding.
In Balochistan several areas are also experiencing power outages of 16 hours causing problems for residents and businesses alike.
