Imad hopes to continue with good form in remaining England matches

All-rounder Imad Wasim is hopeful he will continue in good form in the remaining T20 matches against England provided the pitch continues to support spinners as it did in Friday’s match in Manchester.

“If the wicket continues to behave the way it was behaving, then I am confident of doing well here. Shadab [Khan] will also be able to get support from the wicket and can do well for the team in remaining matches,” Imad said in his post-match interview after yesterday's match was called off due to rain.

The 31-year-old took two wickets, sending Jonny Bairstow and Lewis Gregory back to the pavilion.

Wasim said things would have been in Pakistan’s favour if the match had not been abandoned.

The match was called off by umpires due to the wet outfield with 16.1 overs bowled in England’s innings.

Before the downpour, England had made 131 at the loss of six wickets with four overs left in their innings after Pakistan captain Babar Azam opted to field first at the toss.

Opener Tom Banton led the English team with a 71-run innings that saw four fours and five sixes.

“Of course, it is disappointing to see the game being called off due to rain but we can’t control the weather. We had regained our control on the match, if there was a full match then I am sure it would have been a good result for us,” Wasim said.

“England are a very good side but we are better than them. I am sure it will be a very good contest in the remaining two matches of the series,” Wasim added.

The second T20I between Pakistan and England will be played on Sunday, at the same venue of Old Trafford in Manchester.
