RAWALPINDI: The perpetrators of GHQ attack on October 10, 2010 in Rawalpindi wanted to make army top brass hostage and then trade them for the freedom of comrades, Geo News found out Wednesday.

GHQ attack mastermind Aqeel alias Osman confessed to this in front of a military court, Geo News learnt.

After taking the army officials hostage, the attackers would bargain for the release of 115 terrorists, he added.

Osman said that they also used Google Earth while planning the attack and it took them several months to finalize the strategy and transport weapons to Rawalpindi, adding that they cased the attack site and roads leading to it for months.

The GHQ attack took place on October 10, 2009 and lasted for 18 hours. Nine terrorists were killed while Aqeel alias Osman was captured.
