Dengue claims 100 lives in Punjab
LAHORE: Dengue has claimed 100 lives in Punjab while over 10,000 cases have been confirmed, Geo News reported.

The provincial capital has been the worst hit where 9,148 cases have been reported and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed that the anti-Dengue campaign be intensified. Sharif also ordered that seminars be held in educational institutions and MPAs be tasked with keeping their constituencies clean.

Special units to treat Dengue patients have also been formed at six government hospitals of Lahore and they have been provided Rs 20 million for this purpose. Meanwhile hospitals continue to be crowded with patients having Dengue symptoms causing hindrance in treatment.

A team from the World Health Organisation has also arrived in Pakistan which will formulate a strategy to deal with the rapidly spreading Dengue virus.
